Let’s speak about numbers today !

In English, decimal numbers are written with a point and you say point when you read them.
In French, they’re written with a comma. You say the number before the comma then the number after.
7.50 is 7,50 in French and is pronounced sept cinquante.

Now let’s do math together !

The plus sign (+) is read plus in French, the minus sign (-) is read moins and the equal sign (=) is read égal.

When you have : 12 + 10 = 22, you pronounce it : douze plus dix égale vingt-deux.
When you have : 29,50 – 1 = 28,50, you pronounce it : vingt-neuf cinquante moins un égale vingt-huit cinquante.
Translate in English :
1. Je vais à l’épicerie.
2. Nous nous sommes trompé.
3. Je vous dois 39,50.

Translate in French :
1. 12 + 10 = 22.
2. 6 – 1 = 5.
3. 16,5 + 2 = 18,5.

Epicerie (fém.) : grocery store.
